C10: Design Thinking & Industrial Design

Aim:
To create multiple innovative ideas for solving a single design challenge.

Requirements:

  • A4 sheets or notebook pages

  • Pen or markers

  • Your design problem from Lesson 2

Steps:
Option A: SCAMPER Technique
Use the SCAMPER method to modify or rethink your idea:

  • Substitute

  • Combine

  • Adapt

  • Modify

  • Put to another use

  • Eliminate

  • Reverse

Come up with one idea for each word!

Option B: Crazy 8s Method

  1. Fold a blank paper into 8 boxes.

  2. Set a timer for 8 minutes.

  3. In each box, sketch one new idea—fast and without overthinking!

Working:

Students practice rapid ideation, stretching their imagination and producing a variety of creative concepts without fear of being wrong.
