C10: Introduction: 3D Designing, Sculpting & 3D Printing

In 3D design, every shape has a story. A curved, soft shape may look friendly and playful — perfect for toys. Sharp, angular forms can feel strong or futuristic — ideal for robots or machines. Sculpting helps you express ideas without words by focusing on form, volume, and flow.

While geometric modeling is about accuracy, sculpting is about emotion and imagination.

Think About It:

  • How can a rounded form make something look friendly?

  • How can textures tell where an object lives — rough rock vs. smooth metal?

  • Can a shape show movement or personality?

Artists and product designers use these techniques in movie characters, toy design, car aesthetics, and even footwear.
