Aim:
To learn the correct way of stripping, twisting, and insulating wires.
Requirements:
-
Insulated copper wires (2–3 pieces, 20–30 cm long)
-
Wire stripper or cutter
-
Electrical insulation tape
-
Safety gloves
Working:
Step 1: Safety First
-
Wear gloves to protect your hands.
-
Ensure no live current is connected while working.
Step 2: Strip the Wire
-
Use a wire stripper to carefully remove 1–2 cm of insulation from both wire ends.
-
Avoid cutting into the copper strands.
Step 3: Twist the Wires
-
Place the two exposed copper ends together.
-
Twist them clockwise until the joint is tight and no strands are sticking out.
Step 4: Insulate the Joint
-
Wrap electrical tape around the exposed copper.
-
Ensure no copper is visible.
Step 5: Test the Joint
-
Gently pull the wires from both ends.
-
If the joint is firm, it is correct. If it loosens, repeat the process.
