C6: Electrical Connection

Aim:

To make a chart showing standard wire color codes for home and laboratory use.

Requirements:

  • Chart paper (A3 or bigger)

  • Colored sketch pens / markers

  • Scale and ruler

  • Reference on standard wire color codes

Working:

Step 1: Prepare the Chart Layout

  • Draw a table with 3 columns:

    1. Function (Live / Neutral / Earth)

    2. Home Wiring Color

    3. Lab Wiring Color

Step 2: Fill in Information

  • Write down the wire names (Live, Neutral, Earth).

  • Use the correct colors in each column:

    • Live → Red / Brown (home), Red (lab)

    • Neutral → Black / Blue (home), Black (lab)

    • Earth → Green / Green-Yellow (home), Green (lab)

Step 3: Add Labels & Key

  • At the bottom, write:
    “Color codes help prevent mistakes and keep electrical work safe.”

Step 4: Display

Hang the chart in your classroom or lab for reference.
