Aim:
Use tools and logic to detect and fix issues in a faulty circuit.
Requirements:
- Faulty PCB circuit (intentionally or accidentally not working)
- Multimeter
- Soldering iron & toolkit
- Safety gloves
Steps:
- Check the power supply:
- Use the multimeter to ensure the battery or power source is connected and gives voltage.
- Look at orientation of components:
- Check if the LED or capacitor is inserted the right way. LEDs have a longer leg for positive.
- Test continuity using a multimeter:
- Put the multimeter in continuity mode. Touch both ends of a soldered connection—if it beeps, the joint is fine.
- Fix problems:
- Resolder any cold or loose joints.
- Replace damaged parts.
- Make sure all parts are tightly fit in the PCB.
- Test again:
- Reconnect the battery and see if the LED blinks.
