C8: Design Thinking and Innovation

Aim:
To create a basic model of your idea and test how it functions.

Requirements:

  • Cardboard

  • Scissors

  • Glue or tape

  • Markers and paper

  • Optional: digital drawing tool or simulation app

Steps:

  1. Look at your idea sketch from the previous lesson.

  2. Use cardboard, paper, or recyclables to build a basic model of it.

  3. Label important parts on the model.

  4. Describe what each part does.

  5. Test it—see what works well and what needs fixing.

  6. Note areas for improvement and rebuild or redesign.

Working of the Activity
This activity teaches you that good design doesn’t happen all at once. Each version you build helps you learn something new and get closer to a better solution.
