C8: Design Thinking and Innovation

Aim:
To listen and learn from someone’s daily life experiences and understand their problems.

Requirements:

  • Interview sheet or notebook

  • Pen or pencil

  • Permission from a teacher or parent to conduct the interview

Steps:

  1. Choose someone to interview—this could be a parent, school janitor, librarian, or helper.

  2. Ask 3–5 thoughtful questions like:

    • “What do you find difficult in your work?”

    • “What task takes too much time or effort?”

    • “What would make your job easier?”

  3. Listen carefully and write down what they say.

  4. Try to understand how they feel about the challenge.

Working of the Activity

This activity helps you become an empathy-based designer—someone who listens before solving. The insights you gain from real people will guide your design in future lessons.
