C9: Design Thinking & Industrial Design

Aim:
To improve a daily-use item by observing its flaws and redesigning it for better use.

Requirements:

  • Notebook and pencil

  • Ruler and color pens

  • A classroom object (like a pen, school bag, or chair)

Steps:

  1. Pick an item you use often in school.

  2. Observe how you use it—Is it comfortable? Easy? Safe?

  3. Write down what works well and what doesn’t.

  4. Use your imagination to draw a new and improved version.

  5. Label the changes and explain why they help.

Working of the Activity
When you notice how real people use real things, you start designing with purpose. This activity sharpens your observation and helps you see problems others miss.
